You could be very annoyed by the seemingly longest day in existence, but you're not.
Your kid woke up at 5:30 AM with a cough (that magically went away by noon) and could not be consoled and did not want to go back to sleep in his mommy and daddy's bed. Then he fell back asleep at 10:30 AM just as you were planning to drop him off at the gym babysitting room so you could exercise for 40 minutes, take a shower and actually shave your legs. When you woke him up (tit for tat) he refused to let you leave the room and held on to your thighs like they were tree trunks and he was a very strong little monkey.
The day's sense of order was totally confused and normally this kind of thing bothers the hell out of you. But your mother was at the JCC and so was your grandma, and you hung out with your mom and your clingy child for a while talking to each other and people who passed you by.
Then you visited your father for his birthday and brought him a present and didn't get upset when your son didn't want to leave for lunch. You just went with the flow and took another trip around the house to look at ivy and pinecones and for the sneaky cat who avoids your son like the plague.
And it was okay. It was nice, really. Sometimes the schedule needs to go out the window and you just need to take a breath and go with things. Your son is screeching downstairs happily while your husband gives you a needed break and the time is that much sweeter now.
Try this at home:
Do you have a daily schedule? Do you ever throw it out the window?
