You've been doing a lot of kibbitzing lately. A little chit here. A little chat there. On the phone here. At the gym there. Listening to people's problems. Sharing your own. Giving advice and taking it. You're not above some good gossip, if it's worth gossiping about.
For a long dry stretch it felt like you didn't talk to anybody. It seemed like almost all your conversations were forced. You spent too much time worrying that you would say the wrong thing. And then because you worried so much, you always did! That was no fun at all.
And then gradually you got more comfortable with people. It was hard at first. You were out of practice. You missed yourself. But you got better and better at it and the more you did it the more natural it became until it was fun again to meet new people and enjoy their company. Now you look forward to seeing new and old friends and acquaintances to catch up on their lives and fill them in on yours.
