How to Welcome Spring

Listen to the rain beat down against your window in the dark. Thump. Thump. Thump. The wind pummels the side of the house and you wait in bed with a flashlight in case the lights go off. You feel alone and scared. You confuse the flapping of your porch flag with a serial killer coming to get you!

In the morning it's suddenly spring. You wear your flip flops and toss your coat in the back seat of the car. You play on swingsets and wipe the rain away. You buy fresh fruit and look toward lighter times. The monotony of winter's got you down. Stuck inside all day. Your kid running circles around the room, chasing down the dog with his firetruck and stuffing figurines in crevices that you only find two weeks later. It's enough to depress a girl.

But spring brings freedom! Even if it's only for a day, a world of new possibilities open up to get outside and breathe!

Go away gray! Bring the life of blue and yellow and green. The black and white is old and tired. Winter clothes worn out and overwashed. It's time for a new wardrobe of skirts that sing in the breeze and flirty shirts that feel girly and sweet. Iced-T. Barbecue. Fresh seafood on the beach.

(Yes, we will!)

Here's to new beginnings.
