How to Paint

Be bored.
Be very, very bored.
Be tired of the same old television shows and the same old websites that usually keep the boredom at bay.
Be unimpressed with the selection of books at the library.
Be a little bit scared to be at home without your husband at night when it's so dark outside and you live behind a swamp where the boogeyman might live.

So, paint!

Go to Home Depot and choose a color on a whim. Cottage white! Yes, you would like your bathroom to feel like a cozy cottage. You would like your bathroom to feel clean and bright with lovely scrubbable semi-gloss walls that your child can smear ketchup on and you won't even mind!

So, drag out the ladder and the painter's tape and take on a job that will leave you feeling satisfied and happy with your work. It's a process. Talk to yourself while you tape and paint. A little motivation, a little self-therapy. The time passes quickly and soon you can peel off the tape like a scab to see the new skin underneath.

Is there anything better than a newly painted room?

Try this at home:
What was the last home improvement project you took on?
