Your grandmother is nearing 88 years old. Your son calls her GG and she is his favorite. She loves him with a fierceness that you're not sure you could possess and even though you have a tempestuous relationship with your grandmother, it makes you smile to see them together.
Today you picked up your son and went to collect GG from her singing group. Inside the auditorium there was an older gentleman and a woman singing cowboy songs and playing the guitar. Your son saw GG across the room and ran to her. She loves the running. It's charming and confirms to her how much he adores her.
GG and your son stood for a minute listening to the singing cowboy and you could see the smile on your son's face as he watched. You looked at their two backs, one small and straight and the other bigger and a little bent and you were grateful that you son could have moments like these. He might not remember them but you will.
