How to Love The Open Air

First, you like motorcycles. Boys on them, especially, but you'll take one for yourself thank you very much. You would like a pink one. With mermaids painted on the side.

Only you are not so good with the stick. And by the time you're old enough to actually buy yourself a motorcycle, Marc has forbidden it along with your mother and so you're out of luck.

Okay. (Sigh.) Move on.

Marc buys a convertible. It's a navy soft top Sebring. Nothing too fancy. It's the mini-mall of convertibles-comfortable and relatively safe. But still. You can gun the engine a little and with the top down you feel the wind all around you and on a cool Autumn day, it is heaven!

When you really fell in love with convertibles was on the drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco along Highway 101. Stopping at the Henry Miller museum (closed) and that strange little tourist hotel with its themed rooms and overlooking the beaches and the cliffs all totally open to the air and you are just looking...looking at the world! Well, it's really gorgeous. You feel alive and sexy and defiantly in your twenties.

What an experience!
