Don't be afraid to get sweaty. It's part of the fun. Really get your hands dirty. Scrub vigorously. Don't go halfway. If you're going to clean, clean.
There's a special joy in order. In giving each thing a proper place. The cleaning is the process you go through to get there. You can look around afterwards and know that THIS is a clean house. Your mind can relax for a minute.

People with ordered minds don't need their homes to be neat. Their brains categorize their lives in clever bins that number their priorities one by one.
1. Take out trash.
2. Make money.
3. Kiss your husband.
4. Cure cancer.
But those of us with minds like infinite paint cans smashed brightly against walls, well, we need to mind the clutter or risk total chaos.
Wiping each countertop, sweeping each floor, organizing each closet, these are all little steps to keeping a clear mind. And along the way you might even find small treasures you thought you lost--a favorite sweater hidden at the back of the closet, a miniature lion your son threw to the gods of the undercouch, even a love letter from the boy you adored at 16.
That last one was the best reason of all to clean.
Try this at home:
What sets your mind at ease?
